Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 9334.52.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/58.0.3029.78 Safari/537.36 Platform: 9334.52.0 (Official Build) beta-channel cave Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. ASUS C302 2. Get beta channel and open the Google Play Store 3. Using the mouse cursor or touch, go to the top right 3 options to exit, minimize, or make small. It does not respond. Also, the bottom 20 percent of the screen doesn't respond to clicks or touch. This happens in any application you download in the Google Play store. What is the expected behavior? When the mouse cursor goes to the top three options, normally it highlights the one you are going to click but it doesn't highlight thus not responding. When I go to the bottom of the screen in the Google Play store, and I wanted to click something, it doesn't work either. What went wrong? I am not sure. This is a brand new chromebook from Amazon and I did not expect any problems but I guess since the Google Play Store in the chromebook is in beta, I should have expected problems. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 58.0.3029.78 Channel: beta OS Version: 9334.52.0 Flash Version: 25.0.0.148

This issue is a regression from the previous beta release. Previous beta release was working with Play Store almost 100% perfectly. New release broke Play Store functionality almost completely.

Confirmed issue on Asus C302CA in the UK. Touchscreen worked ok on previous beta release. Since very latest update (Thursday?), touchscreen is unresponsive for Android applications in top right and bottom of screen. Can recreate 100% of the time.

Just wanted to echo what has already been reported, and also provide a video (attached) - that shows when the Android app is not full screen, input (touch and mouse) works as expected, but when it is full screen the input appears to go through the app on the window underneath. This 'click-through' can be seen towards the end of the video where attempts to interact with the right hand side of the Play Store app focuses OneNote and two-finger clicks on the top right of the Play Store brings up the wallpaper context menu. Also some other reports of the same issue on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/chromeos/comments/670l2c/asus_chromebook_flip_c302_clicks_and_touch_in/ https://www.reddit.com/r/chromeos/comments/66lq63/c302_latest_beta_broke_some_android_apps_crashing/ Hope that helps.

Yes, this is a recent regression to beta channel unfortunately. A fix is in and should be rolled out in the next beta update.

We hope to have a new beta Wednesday, likely pushed out in the evening but might be Thursday morning.

Is there any update on the release of this next beta? Previous comment stated Wednesday possibly Thursday morning. It's now Thursday afternoon in the UK and no sign of the beta. Just got my Chromebook (Asus C302) and can only access Android Apps in the beta channel,Android apps was one of the reasons I purchased the device. Would help if you stated which timezone you mean when giving release estimates.

This is more than a bug instead this is a problem. Whole reason I stayed with Chromebook for a new laptop was the motivation of the new apps in addition to my desire to see Chromebook make new strides and progress. As much as I love my C302, this has given me more negative thought towards Chromebook than I previously had experienced. WHy advertise something that takes over a year to make it flow mainstream and then even worse, cause my brand new laptop to retract it's abiliites. Not professional at all. This should never have happened and even more so it should have been taken care of much sooner. How do we use our laptops if we keep using abilites. Keep in mind the ASUS had the apps in stable when it first came out. Sorry please forgive for the rant, just want to use my $500 laptop like it was advertised and was able to be used when it first came out.

Thanks! :-) There's always an amount of "tension" on these problems, as it is hard for developers to realize how big an impact these issues have on users, and the users often doesn't understand the magnitude and difficulty for a fix. In this case, fixed and updated in less than a week. Thanks on behalf of all the affected users!

Thanks for resolving. Glad I can actually use Android Apps on my Chromebook, hopefully this doesn't occur again. :D

I am sorry if I was the one who came across negative. Thank you for all your hard work to get it done. However, I am not putting this on those who had to fix this. Those individuals on the team, may need Google to invest more into Chromebook support ($$$/manpower) in order to handle these problems and get this moving faster once they promote these things like Playstore Apps. Google does have some history of taking a long time to get things out after a promotion. If you are dependent on one of these apps at this point, than waiting almost a week can be a very long time with regards to work projects. What kind of flak would Microsoft get if Skype was unable to used on their products for a week? What about if IOS had an inability to Facetime on all IPADS or even the inability to download apps? Again in summary, I believe it is not on those that respond to this page but those over them that do not give them the right amount of manpower and support to make this run smoother and faster. Yet what do I know, I'm just a consumer that just bought a $500 laptop wanting very badly to use it as advertised ;) Again, thank you for you efforts. I do love my Chromebook and hope it continues to run smoothly for the years to come. |
