Why is chrome always exchanging data in the background even when idle or closed?

Issue description
Chrome Version : 57.0.2987.133
OS Version: 10.0

Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari 5:
Firefox 4.x:
IE 7/8/9:
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Exiting out of Chrome but still runs in background

What is the expected result?
That internet data transfer should stop
What happens instead of that?
Still constant data transfer, both tx and rx, with browser closed and exit from chrome running, but not unchecking the run in background.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

Note I do not use Safari or Apple software that I am aware of. But I guess I should investigate removing that somehow.

Can you provide us with a network trace from chrome://net-internals? There are a few reasons why this can happen. 1) background extensions could be doing something 2) chrome auto updater could be downloading data.
