User pod on lock screen sometimes unfocused after turning screen off/on with side power button |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionGoogle Chrome 58.0.3029.76 (Official Build) beta (64-bit) Platform 9334.50.0 (Official Build) beta-channel caroline Firmware Version Google_Caroline.7820.286.0 1. Enable "Require password to wake from sleep" setting. 2. Tap side power button to turn screen off. 3. Tap side power button to turn screen on. The lock screen was shown (as expected), but the password field in the user pod wasn't focused and typing didn't do anything. I needed to click on the pod to be able to type my password. This doesn't repro every time. :-( I saw it twice after signing in, I think, but the pod is focused every time I do it now. I'm not sure if it's specific to using the side power button or if it'd also show up with Search+L; I only saw it with the former just now. I'll try to experiment some more after filing this.

There are some changes that could have caused this that landed in m60 but none that I'm aware of in m58. Those CLs are at https://codereview.chromium.org/2814863002/ and https://codereview.chromium.org/2785003002/.

Also, if you decide to continue experimenting I recommend messing with virtual keyboard and PIN, as there is probably some interaction between them that is not playing well.

I'm still seeing this, now on another convertible device while it's in laptop mode. The device is running the current canary channel (61.0.3160.0 / 9759.0.0). I see this roughly half the time when I turn the screen off and on using the side power button, but haven't been able to repro it when I just lock using Search+L. I'm not using the virtual keyboard or an unlock PIN.

This issue is no long a problem as we've enabled password typing when the field is not focused ( issue 695558 ). We still need to figure out why the focus was lost in the first place.
