Bumping up in priority, Laura feels this is impt for accessibility.

Tagging with Android and iOS because those are where "special" suggestions are more common.  (The only "special" suggestions on desktop are suggestions that are based on the user's current URL, and these are available on almost all pages so in some sense they're not special.)

Adding mardini@ for triage, as I think iOS should take the lead here exploring this space because these "special" suggestions like clipboard suggestions get used on iOS a lot more than Android.

I re-read the description here and I don't understand what does "available from the NTP" mean.

It doesn't get read out automatically. It is read out when the user taps the specific omnibox suggestion.

I'm guess lpalmaro@ and emilyschechter@ meant that when a "special suggestion" becomes available, the user should be notified, not merely when they try to select it.

Ah, I see. That certainly makes sense. Unfortunately, I don't think the Bling team has any cycles currently but we should keep it on our radar. Alternatively, if the omnibox team is doing any accessibility work, this might be worth doing.

Sorry for the delay, but yes, that is what we meant. Currently, the suggestions are really not very discoverable without an alert. We can leave this open and available, but please do update the bug if your team does have cycles to work on this (or if you can think of another owner). 

This issue has been Available for over a year. If it's no longer important or seems unlikely to be fixed, please consider closing it out. If it is important, please re-triage the issue.

@lpalmaro, what should happen if there are more than one special suggestions?  

If there is just one clipboard suggestion, what should be announced?  "Link you copied suggestion available"?  Would that be any more discoverable?  Or should there be a generic "Additional options available" message?

Are answers in suggest considered special suggestions?
