CSS Multi-column layout items with 2D transform animation fails to show

Reported by ralphech...@gmail.com, Apr 17 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_10_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/57.0.2987.133 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open http://projects.gentle.media/css-masonry/
2. Toggle the 'overflow' button between 'overflow: auto' on the body and on a wrapper (div)
3. Toggle the 'transition' button between scale 2D transform and opacity to find out it does work with the opacity transition, but not with a 2D transition.

What is the expected behavior?
The Images in the CSS Masonry grid (made with the multiple column layout) should scale up and stay in position if the grid is place inside a wrapper (div) set to 'overflow: auto' instead of directly in the body.

What went wrong?
If the grid with images is placed inside a wrapper (div), the images disappear after they scaled up from 0 to 1.

Did this work before? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? No
It also happens in Opera (Blink).
In Safari and Firefox it does work..

Chrome version: 57.0.2987.133 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.10.5
Flash Version:

Just want to add that I'm pretty sure it's a Blink>Layout component issue instead of the Blink>Animation I've selected (Sorry for that), because it happens only if the wrapper has 'overflow: auto' set.

Able to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 14.04 and Mac OS 10.12 using chrome latest stable #57.0.2987.133 by following steps mentioned in the original comment. Observed the images are not rendering back to normal once clicking on overflow button. This issue is working fine on Windows-10.

Tested this issue on chrome older version of chrome M35-35.0.1849.0 and observed different behavior of rendering for the webpage, Tested on chrome M50-50.0.2656.0 and observed the similar behavior as seen in chrome latest stable. So marking it as untriaged for further triaging.

Thanks!
