Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: 1. load web page with plenty text (ex. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0 ) What is the expected behavior? What went wrong? Starting from m54, performLayout is taking much longer than previous versions. Making overall page loading performance degrade. It seems activating complex text path is the main reason for the regression (https://codereview.chromium.org/2123653005). Did this work before? Yes m53 Does this work in other browsers? N/A Chrome version: 57.0.2987.133 Channel: stable OS Version: Flash Version:

Intentional change to trade improved correctness for a slight increase in rendering time for text-heavy latin context in same cases. Specifically by no longer ignoring kerning and ligatures text shaping can be a bit slower, espeically for fonts with large GPOS and GSUB tables. |
