Google Inbox images are broken

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3070.0 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open google.com/inbox
2. Open any email that contains an image

What is the expected behavior?
The image should open up correctly

What went wrong?
The image does not display and the email rendering is broken. The same message opens up fine when opening the email in Gmail.

Did this work before? Yes 

Chrome version: 59.0.3070.0  Channel: canary
OS Version: OS X 10.11.6

I have the same issue on Windows (has been happening for a few auto update cycles).

Version 59.0.3070.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit)
Windows 7 SP1 + up-to-date-fixes 64 Bit Pro

The problem does not manifest itself on Beta on same PC
Version 58.0.3029.68 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)

I have attached a screenshot of the same email in Inbox on both Canary & Beta to illustrate the issue.

Issues  709338  & 711499 & 707822 all seem to be for this same Inbox issue.

In my case:
Win 7 64 bit Pro - SP1 + up to date fixes

Busted Inbox - Version 59.0.3070.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit) (for several update cycles now)

Inbox all joy - Version 58.0.3029.68 (Official Build) beta (64-bit) 

Both Canary & Beta running concurrently on desktop - and both are "synced" the same for extensions.

Yes, this is super-annoying, have to constantly switch between Inbox and Gmail to see messages correctly. Has been happening for 2+ weeks now. Switched to beta for now because this is screwing up with my daily work.

Canary Still Broken - Version 60.0.3072.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit)

Beta still OK - Version 58.0.3029.68 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)

Both on Win 7 Pro 64 bit SP1 + all recommended fixes. 

Same extensions (sync'd) on Canary & Beta.

Images not showing in Inbox, but do work in Gmail.
Strangely the images show up when taking a screen snippet on the submit feedback section of inbox.
