Cisco is looking for Chrome support for a feature that can detect a trusted network. This would allow VPN service to be suspended when the device connects to a corporate network and resume VPN connection when the device has moved off. 

All this feature would require is for the Chrome device to be able to retrieve the DNS configuration info on the public interface. This would need the chrome.system.network API to return DNS info with the network interfaces.
