Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/57.0.2987.133 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Access any function that will create a popup (such as translating a website in a foreign language) 2. The popup will not display. 3. However, if you remember the specific location and behaviour of the buttons, you can still access it. It's just the popup that is not being displayed. What is the expected behavior? A visible popup, of course. What went wrong? The popup is not being displayed. I tested it out in Incognito mode as well (no plugins) so I am sure it is a native problem. Did this work before? Yes Previous stable release. Chrome version: 57.0.2987.133 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0 The W10 Creators Update may be the reason, but I am not sure. It was definitely working before that.

Unable to reproduce this issue on Windows-10 using chrome latest stable #57.0.2987.133 by following steps mentioned in the original comment, Observed the pop-up bubble displays as expected while clicking on translate button. accelyte@ Could you please recheck this issue by resetting all your chrome://flags to default and try to create new profile under chrome://settings with no apps or extensions in your browser. Thanks!

Resetting chrome://flags solved the problem. I made a note of what flags I changed before I reset the flags: Override software rendering list Material Design in the rest of the browser's native UI Hardware-accelerated video decode LCD text anti-aliasing Default tile width/height Use material design user menu Google profile name and icon Translate 2016Q2 UI Number of raster threads Extension toolbar redesign Tab audio muting UI control Enable Material Design history Automatic tab discarding I have yet to test which one caused the problem, but thanks for the quick replies.

It was 'Override software rendering list'. Enabling it causes the popups to become invisible. Again, thanks for helping me solve the problem.

Our TC team did a little research and we found that turning off the hardware acceleration helps with this issue. Br.

As per comment #4, 6 and 7, closing the issue as wontFix. Thanks...!!

Seriously? WontFix? Say I'm somebody who knows nothing of computers, I install Chrome as suggested on all Google services and run into the issue. I can't ask Chrome to save passwords or to translate a page, log into my Google account and so on. I don't know what to do with that, I don't know what Hardware acceleration is or means and this kind of bug report is not really the kind of website I visit. What do I do? Uninstall and move back to Edge or Firefox. So what's the logic behind "WontFix"?

Installed Windows Creator Update yesterday, Google Chrome froze every time I tried to launch specific times of dialogs, for example, saving a bookmark and clicking 'Edit'. Clicking on the text at the top right to switch profiles did nothing, etc etc. Finally came across this post, disabled Hardware acceleration and everything is working again. But, why is this WontFix? I'm just not supposed to use Hardware Acceleration anymore? Comments 4, 6 and 7 don't describe any reason as to why this would be a WontFix; they sound to me like you've figured out the reason and Hardware Acceleration needs to be fixed (or permanently removed?).

Agreeing Comment 11 - I still have this problem, too; since the Creators Update. The current state is unusable, by opening the browser crashes instantly and doesn't even recover the tabs opened. I have switchable AMD laptop graphics, I can imagine they are the reason for the problem (like in the past).

the same problem https://forums.opera.com/discussion/1883349/after-win-10-creator-update-vpn-icon-doesn039t-work#Item_18 changing Override software rendering list doesn't help with Intel HD Graphics

This issue is seen as a 'wontfix' as the issue is not chromium related, it is an issue that occurred primarily after the windows 10 creators update for almost all users. The issue seems to be with the graphics drivers installed by microsoft during the creators update process. I have since reverted my drivers back and re-enabled hardware acceleration on chrome with no problems.

It is an issue that occurred after the windows 10 creators update but not for much people. Reinstalling drivers won't fix it. Not sure but i saw what it happen only with old hardware: 1st generation i-core integrated intel hd graphics (Arrandale) also known as GMA5700MHD and core 2 duo intel hd graphics (Centrino 2 / Montevina) known as GMA4500MHD. Intel dropped driver support for them so only chromium or microsoft developers can fix it.

This happens to me also. I am on I3 first generation. After installing windows 10 creators update, Chrome is not usable. no dialoge appears, which results in unusable state and hangs.

The same problem, when installing windows 10 creators chrome does not work correctly when I use the hardware acceleration settings in the browser. any solution?

I am experiencing the same problem. My processor is i5-3210M (Ivy Bridge). I also have switchable AMD graphics but I don't use it for my web browsers. Hardware acceleration is required to render the WebGL 3D models on eyewire.org; that site is working just fine on Firefox and on Edge.

I am having similar issues, directly after installing W10 Creators Update chrome freezes as soon as it's launched. Upon trying to kill the crashed chrome processes (like 8 of them), 7 die instantly, 1 gives access denied and stays alive for about 10 minutes. I have tried all of the tips i have located to try and fix it, although disabling Hardware Acceleration didn't help in my case. Canary nor Opera seem to work either, I am on a I7-6700 and GTX1060 never had issues with chrome before, have tried reinstalling a couple times. deleting my Default profile, etc. at one point i thought i had it resolved but after rebooting the next day it's doing the same thing again, and this time the browser didnt crash completely right away, I can click in the address bar and such but cannot go to chrome://settings or chrome://flags etc, infact no website loads and the spinner just spins indefinately even for chrome:// url's. any help would be amazing and i really hope this can be resolved as i love chrome.

I can suggest a temporary fix, turn off the accelerated graphics settings from settings menu and restart the browser to get the pop up boxes |
