Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/57.0.2987.133 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. View http://codepen.io/mikewheaton/pen/WjezMg?editors=1100 2. Note that "Light" and "Semilight" are both set in Segoe UI Light What is the expected behavior? When setting the font to "Segoe UI", a weight of 300 should select Segoe UI Semilight. When defining a @font-face with a source of local('Segoe UI Semilight'), the font should be set to Segoe UI Semilight. What went wrong? On Windows, there doesn't seem to be a way to set text to Segoe UI Semilight. It works fine in IE11, Edge, and Firefox. Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 57.0.2987.110 Channel: stable OS Version: 10 Flash Version:

The following works just fine for me and correctly sets the semilight style.
.semilight {
font-family: 'Segoe UI';
font-weight: 300;
}

We've tried several machines in and outside of the office, as well as BrowserStack and the Windows virtual machines provided by Microsoft for browser testing. Are you certain that Semilight (300) was in use, and not Light (100)? The difference is subtle.

Sheesh, comment 2 amounted to "works on my machine" with no visual evidence then failed to answer Mike's follow up question. I get this is a minor issue but would have been nice if someone actually looked into this. It's now interfering with my ability to make use of System UI fonts since now Chrome on Windows has no 300 font-weight option. Works fine in Firefox so it seems the issue is on Chrome's end. Any chance someone can take another look at this? I've attached an image comparing latest Firefox and Chrome on Win 10 and showing Firefox correctly renders the element in Semilight while Chrome only uses Light. Red 1px lines to make the subtle difference clearer. |
