Lazarus greatly increased RAM usage by page

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/57.0.2987.133 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Install and enable the Lazarus extension
2. Go to http://www.al.com/opinion/index.ssf/2017/04/hidden_gems_in_3000-page_bentl.html
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then back up again.

What is the expected behavior?
The built-in task manager (Shift-Esc) should show the al.com page using about 575 MB of RAM.

What went wrong?
Page uses around 1.2 GB of RAM.
