Was able to repro on Linux, so bug is not OS-specific

Note: is navigating for a light colored page (this page for example), the flash might be hard to notice. Just hit reload, then the flash is obvious

Given this does not happen on every page, it seems that the site might be at fault. What would we look for to verify that?

Comment 4 by sgpn...@gmail.com, Apr 11 2017

Actually it looks like it's also happening on part of the battle.net website, for a split second the website flashes white when browsing. On the forums it's a bit more noticeable. Myself I don't know the specific cause

I also tried Chrome v60 (dev, 60.0.3088.4) in the hope of fixing it, but without success

Are you talking about the white flash when navigating between frames?

Could be https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=718923 or could be because we are finding white as the color to use before the first frame paints.

Comment 7 by sgpn...@gmail.com, May 11 2017

Not sure what you mean with "between frames" but yes I'm getting white flashes when browsing the battle.net website

Most of these linked issues seem related, maybe it's indeed the same issue
I mean, does it only flash when you click on a link and move to a new page? Those are the situations covered by the related bugs.

Alternatively, we have a different problem if it flashes when you scroll or click on content that modifies the existing page.

Comment 9 by sgpn...@gmail.com, May 12 2017

Yes, it flashes when I click on a link and move to a new page on the battle.net site (most notably the forum section)

(It doesn't flash when I scroll or click on content that modifies the existing page)

So it might be a related bug then...

There is code in the Blizzard site which does not set a background color
early enough for the body. If the site did so, it would not flash white.

A good example of a site which does this correctly is hackaday.com - try
navigating between pages on that site.

Thanks, I can confirm this doesn't happen on sites like hackaday.com and is still occuring on the Blizzard site

I will try to contact the Blizzard web team to send website feedback through ticket/twitter if they will ever read or notice this problem
