Couldn't reproduce on 59.0.3066.0 on macOS 10.12.3, Intel HD 6000. Just to confirm, by NTP you mean new tab page (i.e., put the bookcase in a background tab)? Reporter: please copy+paste the contents of chrome://gpu from the affected systems to this bug report. This is needed for WebGL and GPU related reports.

With response to comment #2: Able to reproduce the above bug on Window 7 OS for Chrome version - 59.0.3067.0 (Official Build) and Open 'New Tab Page' means putting Bookcase WebGL experiment in a background tab (pervious tab) Please refer the attached copy of about://gpu.

My patch should not have any functional change. I do not have access to a windows machine to test. Assigning to jbauman to help triage.

Unable to reproduce on recent builds. abombde@ are you able to reproduce this in more recent Chrome versions? Perhaps this is a v8 regression that was already fixed.
