Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/57.0.2987.133 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Get chrome in a bad state 2. Make the window size as big as possible 3. Go to http://codepen.io/ibash/pen/MpNoWx 4. Repeatedly click on the text box with the lorem ipsum 5. Scroll the text box with the lorem ipsum What is the expected behavior? Only text is ever shown What went wrong? Sometimes the blue div behind the text will "bleed" through. Parts of the blue div in the background will be shown over the text. See the attached video. - After chrome is in a bad state, this behavior is easily reproduced. - If chrome is restarted this behavior will go away for some time (but eventually will come back). - Making the window size smaller seems to alleviate the issue. - This behavior is also reproducible in an incognito window Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? N/A Chrome version: 57.0.2987.133 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.12.4 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0 What information can I give you to help debug this? This is also reproducible by other folks I work with, happy to get debug information from them as well.

Sometimes we are not painting the foreground layer fast enough, I presume. Mac 10.12 specific issue? Actionable?
,
Apr 11 2017
@tapted / @schenney It also happens that the layer gets stuck with things bleeding through. For example, in the screenshot attached. BTW I'm online now and would love to give you more debugging information (I restarted chrome yesterday, and it started breaking again this morning). Feel free to email me directly.

This is new, continually flashing, see attached

Poking around the issue tracker, this seems similar to https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=677899 FWIW I have the same exact hardware as mentioned in that issue: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

Thanks for the report! Can you navigate to about:gpu and paste the contents of that page - this will give us more detailed graphics info and help us diagnose the issue (there may also be errors at the bottom of the page). The first video you posted looked like it was potentially just a case of us not painting fast enough. However, the new video from comment #4 is more worrying. As a side note - do you launch chrome from a command prompt? and if so, are you running a system locale which uses non "." decimal separators (243,00 for example). - may sound a bit obscure, but we've hit an issue around this recently.

It's not happening at the moment (have restarted chrome / my computer since) -- when it starts happening again I can repost about:gpu. Also asked some colleagues if the problem is still happening to get their about:gpu pages.
I do not launch chrome from the command line when I hit this issue, though chrome is launch from the commandline when running tests (but under a completely separate profile / process).
I do not use a local with non decimal separators.

Thanks! One last question, are you running your macbook at a non-default (smaller / more space) display scale?
,
Apr 17 2017
I am running it with more space. Current resolution is 1680x1050. FWIW I had also tried tweaking resolution to see if it resolved the issue (we suspected it could be related) but the issue persisted.
,
Apr 18 2017
I can reproduce this locally - pretty sure this is the same root cause as issue 695427. Will work on putting together a fix for people to try out.
