Thumbnails of my most frequently visited pages disappeared on my google search page

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1.open home page (google for me) 
2.using chrome 
3. Thumbnails not displayed underneath the google search thingy even if i ioen new tab. Where did it go

What is the expected behavior?
Thumbnails will show

What went wrong?
I have no clue. New cell phone. But when i first used it i got the thumbnails

Did this work before? N/A
