Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/56.0.2924.76 Chrome/56.0.2924.76 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: A. Go to settings, add language "German (Switzerland)", where it says "This language cannot be used for spell checking" B. Select "German" instead for spell checking. C. Type anywhere within the browser any word that uses the sharp-S "ß" in high-German, which in Swiss spelling is written using "ss" instead. It will be (rightly) marked as wrong in high-German, but for someone intending to write Swiss-German, it would be correct. The red wavy line draws attention and prevents the indication of other errors. What is the expected behavior? Swiss German is available for spell-checking. It does make a difference, you know! What went wrong? Swiss German is not available for spell-checking. Note that (high-)German is sufficiently different that major usability is lost for Swiss users. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 56.0.2924.76 Channel: stable OS Version: Flash Version: There is a Google Forum entry from 4 years ago: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome-de/SspYJ9wZI2s I am very surprised that Switzerland receives such little attention from Google, given that one of your major research institutes is located here!

Seems this is a feature request as 'German (Switzerland)' spell check option is grayed out in chrome://settings/languages.Hence marking it as untriaged. Could someone from dev team please look into this issue. Thank you!!

This is an improtend Task. Each email a user from switzerland wirte has some words where the "ss" will be markted as a fault and instead the same Word written with "ß" ist recommended. Most applications like Firefox, Windows, Word, OpenOffice etc. works correclty. Goolge ignore this fact since years. Its such a poor bug !

I was surprised, that Swiss-Germann support for spelling is not available. In Edge, IE, Firefox it's no problem. I hope, this will be improved soon by Google.
