Some TeX PDFs have jumbled letters

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3053.3 Safari/537.36 Example URL: https://www.tug.org/TUGboat/tb26-3/tb84robertson.pdf http://www.cs.ucsb.edu/~vigna/cv.pdf http://tex.loria.fr/outils/pdf_from.pdf Steps to reproduce the problem: Open a PDF that was typeset with some specific LaTeX version (pdfeTeX-1.304 for the first, pdfeTeX-1.21a for the second) and observe jumbled letters. What is the expected behavior? What went wrong? Jumbled letters appear. See screenshots: first is from Preview.app, second is from Chrome. (Also works fine in Safari and Firefox) This does *not* apply to every TeX document though. Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes Is it a problem with a plugin? Able to reproduce the issue on Mac-10.12.3,Windows-7 and Linux Ubuntu-14.04 using 59.0.3053.3 (dev) and not able reproduce using chrome stable version 57.0.2987.133 and canary 59.0.3062.0.Hence provided reverse bisect. Narrow Bisect:: =============== Bad::59.3054.0 -- (build revision 459950) Good ::59.0.3056.0 --(build revision 460603) After executing the per-revision bisect script , got the following CL's between good and bad build versions =========================================== https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+log/7b09536cad07c7983eac63eac07ecf82f53c65d1..94a0a47011c54d22e7e64e0f7f9d62ce9e9e82d0 Marking this as Untriaged to get more inputs from dev team.
