Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Log in to any Wordpress site. 2. Go to edit a page and click on an image. 3. Notice the lack of toolbar. What is the expected behavior? It should show the image toolbar as in previous versions of Chrome. What went wrong? Something in recent beta seems to have broken it: Uncaught DOMException: Failed to execute 'setBaseAndExtent' on 'Selection': There is no child at offset 1. in tinyMCE. Did this work before? Yes earlier 58 beta. Chrome version: 58.0.3029.33 beta (64-bit) Channel: beta OS Version: 58 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0 Also tracking here: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/40305

That looks different... On WP sites I can edit, I go to /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page and go to edit a page with an image. Clicking an image does not bring up the expected toolbar... same on Version 58.0.3029.41 beta (64-bit)

I wasn't setting featured-image, I was clicking an image within the content of the page... and It seems it happens on any standard Wordpress install's posts editor, not sure about that wordpress.com interface.

Test url: any standard Wordpress site. Screenshot: attached. See the working toolbar that pops up on click of an image on the right, and will never pop up in Chrome beta (to the left).

Tried with the top google search results for word press sites and unable to get to the page , that you have attached in the screenshot in comment #9 . As per your screenshot , the url you are using is your localhost. Help us in reproducing the issue by providing the test url/ test case with the content required. Thanks!

I don't want to put credentials public here for any live site... literally any website running the latest Wordpress system should show this in Chrome beta, so you can try clicking the image on your blog, or your website... your friend's wp blog who can test Chrome beta... every site seemed to be having the issue.

I noticed this on Win8.1 Chrome-beta so it's not just an Ubuntu bug.

This possibly looks related to some recent changes in the method used by the WP WYSIWYG editor here. Which is Selection.setBaseAndExtent [1]. CCing in tkent and yoichio who both seem to have touched this code within the past few months. Perhaps one of them can triage this a little further if they have the time. To replicate the problem: 1. Visit https://demos1.softaculous.com/WordPress/wp-admin/ (public wordpress demo install by a 3rd party.) 2. Username: `admin` and Password: `pass` (no backticks) 3. Go into editing the existing blog post 4. Add image (I used: `https://demos1.softaculous.com/WordPress/wp-content/themes/twentyseventeen/assets/images/header.jpg` ) 5. Click on image in the editor and check the DevTools console for the error. For the record, this could either be a bug in TinyMCE's usage itself or Blink and I'm not sure which. TinyMCE (the editor Wordpress uses) worked around this about a month ago [2]. If it is indeed an MCE/WP bug rather than Chrome, it may be best to recommend the latest MCE build on this ticket? https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/40305

The exception message means out-of-bound index is specified. Definitely it's a bug of callsite. https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5696359768260608

We updated tinymce to latest version v4.5.7 and solved the problem with the images, but now the same error occurs with the galleries. Also if we try to move or add something new to the post it deletes when switching from visual to text editor or after saving the post. I showed a similar behavior pre update when only the images where failing. |
