Issue description== Summary of issue When searching Settings, an entire section is shown at once, and the yellow callout bubble may not be visible. == To reproduce 1. Open Settings and search for a content setting, such as "flash", or "pdf", or "cookie". 2. Look for the yellow callout bubble to find your desired setting. Old: The content settings button was at the top of the section, but also the entire "Privacy" section (the tallest of all the sections) was only 347px tall, which fits easily on a laptop screen. New: The Privacy section is now 701px tall. Depending on toolbars and taskbars, even a maximized browser window can't accomodate the entire section to show the Content settings label. == Additional comments A possible remedy would be to automatically scroll the highlighted result into view. Honestly, the layout of content settings is a regression for another reason: It is nested two levels deep from the main page. The old settings page showed the radio buttons for each content setting directly in the subpage; the new one contains only clickable labels. And content settings itself is buried beneath an otherwise straightforward list of toggle buttons. Pulling content settings into its own section of the main settings page would fix both issues.

Search is WAI, you just need to scroll down to get to the button. We could indicate that there are more search results, but that is an existing expectation from the old Settings page (not all highlights are guaranteed to be on-screen). The increased row-height is necessary for touch / scannability, so we will be keeping that. And the intermediate Site Settings page lets users more quickly get to the settings they care about (extra click vs less scrolling/scanning).

Per comment #2 this is WAI. There are no current plans to have a finer granularity than showing the entire setting section in the search results. |
