Basic authentication credentials aren’t saved / synced

Project Member Reported by math...@qiwi.be, Mar 27 2017

Issue description

Chrome Version: 57.0.2987.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)

OS: macOS, but I’ve seen this happen on Windows too

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Navigate to a page that requires Basic Authentication
(2) Enter the credentials
(3) Note how the credentials aren’t saved and re-used on subsequent visits

What is the expected result?

The credentials should be autofilled, just like other username/password fields on the Web.

What happens instead?

The credentials aren’t autofilled.

As a work-around, I’m currently using bookmarks with embedded credentials in the URLs.

Mike’s looking to remove support for that (and rightly so!) so it’s especially important that these credentials are saved, synced, and autofilled correctly.

I tried saving on http://httpbin.org/basic-auth/user/password (user/password) and it works all right. What page are you looking at? Does it always have the same realm string?
