Probably the same on any touch enabled installation? Like Android...

I'm not sure whether selection popup is cancelable or not.

Default action of long-press is selecting word, when canceling long-press, word selection isn't occurred.

Should we dispatch an *new* event, e.g. "showselectionmenu", before displaying selection popup?

We also need a way to disable the "copy" popup on long-press.
We have a packaged app that needs the default word selection but the "copy" popup is interfering with our own popup that gets displayed on "touchend"
A new event that gets triggered before displaying the "copy" popup (as yosin@chromium.org suggested) would be very useful

RE #6: have you tried preventDefault on the touch events? That should eliminate the popup menu.

[I think it would also eliminate the text selection handles... I'm guessing you want the handles but not the popup?]
Unfortunately we need the handles...
We are in the same situation. preventDefault on touch does not effectively hide the popup menu. Also I cannot find any handle either - have they not yet been implemented?

Our OS - Windows Surface.

This still seems to be an issue, has anyone found a work around or have any suggestions on a solution? Or is this even being looked at?
+1 it'd be good for us as well. Chromium is popular for kiosks + web UI's
