Canvas elements error with Chrome 57 in Open Text CHP

Reported by sdhali...@ancoris.com, Mar 23 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/57.0.2987.110 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open a picture in the CHP application to edit
2. The toolbar side element is not displayed

What is the expected behavior?
The expected behaviour would be for the toolbar to appear as it did in the previous versions of Chrome

What went wrong?
During our CHP 16.2 product release testing, we have identified a problem with the latest Chrome version that has been recently been released (version 57 – build 57.0.2987.98). This problem affects canvas elements, which CHP uses to draw pictures and composites to the browser display, and results in the toolbar and Tools side-pane not always drawing correctly. This is most obviously when using the “Scale to fit” drawing mode, and when sizing the picture panel to be less than 50% (although other combinations are also possible). We have also seen problems with the picture itself not drawing correctly (with some ghosting across the image content).

Our investigations so far indicate that this will be a problem across all versions of CHP when running under Chrome v57 (at least on the PC – quite likely on the Mac also). Based upon this, our advice is to avoid users upgrading to Chrome 57 while investigations continue. We are not aware of any other Chrome 57 problems at the moment, so other areas of the application should not be affected. Note that Chrome will automatically update by default (either when opening the “About box” which automatically starts the update checking process, or after a period of time regardless). There appear to be different ways for disabling Chrome auto-updates, so we haven’t provided any recommended mechanism for doing this.

Did this work before? Yes Chrome 56 and prior versions
