Google chrome is unresponsive. Relaunch Now? When clicking any external link

Reported by nabj...@gmail.com, Mar 22 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/57.0.2987.110 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open Chrome
2. Click on any web link outside of Chrome.
3. Error pops up "Google chrome is unresponsive. Relaunch Now?"

What is the expected behavior?
Clicking any external link launches the website in Chrome automatically.

What went wrong?
Clicking on any link outside of Chrome causes the error to pop up. Clicking Yes or No does nothing and doesn't even relaunch Chrome.

Did this work before? Yes Unsure

Chrome version: 57.0.2987.110 Channel: stable
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0

nabjave@ Could you please elaborate step-2, from where you are trying to access the link if it's not from chrome?

Are you able to reproduce this crash consistently? If yes, please provide sample crash ID's from chrome://crashes for further investigation.

Thanks!

@brajkumar I mean by using an app other than Chrome. For example, a link I receive by email in Outlook. Also it is not a crash. Chrome remains open and does not respond to clicking 'Yes' in "Relaunch now?"

Tested in chrome # 57.0.2987.110 and Canary #59.0.3053.3 on win 10.0 & 7 and not able to reproduce the issue. Please find the screen shots for your reference.
Steps Followed:
1.Open chrome and Open some tabs.
2.Navigate to other browser(Canary/Fire fox) and click on web link in that browser.
3.Again navigate to chrome and checked: Working as expected.

@Reporter: Could you please let me know if i have missed anything and if possible, Please create new profile without extensions and apps.Re-check once and let us know the observations and provide the crash id from chrome://crashes of the issue which would help us to triage the issue further.

Thanks in Advance.

@rbasuvula I should have clarified what I meant by clicking links outside of Chrome. When Chrome is set as the default browser and you click a web link outside of Chrome (such as a .com link in an email in the Outlook app on PC) the issue occurs. However as of now the issue seems to have been resolved. I did not update my PC or Chrome but external links open up normally. This has happened before and the issue will sometimes occur at random. If I am able to reproduce the issue again I will record it and upload it. I apologize for the late reply.
