Elves bodies (with gradient reference) in Santa's Workshop demo don't show

Reported by jw...@jwatt.org, Mar 20 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.12; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Open index.html and run the demo.

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
The bodies of the elves do not show in Chrome, but do show in Firefox.

Did this work before? Yes A year ago or so?

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 56.0.2924.87 (Official Build) (64-bit) Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.12
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0

Under the |DEMO.ElfFactory = new function()| function a "redElf", "greenElf" or "yellowElf" is created by cloning from the element by the same name in index.html. For some reason the bodies of the elves don't show any more if the gradient reference is left in the template markup. If the gradient reference is replaced by the color 'pink' for example, the bodies do show.

Demo attached as a zip since the original demo on MS's site seems to have broken when they moved it. At any rate, FWIW the original URL is:

Probably a dupe of issue 453722 (or it's superbug issue 454767 .) Should hopefully work in current dev.

Could you please check the content in Chrome Canary, to so if we have indeed fixed it already?

Status: Available (was: Unconfirmed)
I just checked on my content_shell build (from today), and it is broken there, so no. The gradient itself isn't cloned anyway it seems, so it would be the bug I mentioned above anyway.

Reporter says that this was working a year or so ago. Requesting bisect.

Comment 6 by f...@opera.com, Mar 20 2017

It's related to the focus point on the radialGradient. Attaching minimized TC.

Oops, that had my debug aids in it. Here's one with them removed.

You have to add a milestone for bisecting to be seen by the testing team.

Able to reproduce this issue on Mac OS 10.12.5 using chrome latest stable #59.0.3071.109. Observing similar behavior on older version of chrome #35.0.1849.0. Since this is not a regression issue removing bisect label and adding latest milestone.

Thanks!

We seem to match Firefox now. So I guess this was fixed at some point.
