Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 2 reduced tests with japanese texts: http://www.gtalbot.org/BrowserBugsSection/CSS3WritingModes/tooltip-display-vrl-002.xht http://www.gtalbot.org/BrowserBugsSection/CSS3WritingModes/tooltip-display-vlr-003.xht Hover the mouse cursor or pointing device over the japanese text. What is the expected behavior? The rendered tooltip should be displayed vertically. What went wrong? The rendered tooltip should be displayed horizontally. Did this work before? msrchandra, Tooltip in both tests should be displayed vertically in any/all writing-mode-capable web softwares (Firefox 46+, Chrome 50+, Edge 12+, Safari 9+, Prince 10+, AntennaHouse 6+, etc.). Firefox already has a bug report on this; I merely wanted to state this. I am sorry: I do not understand what kind of feedback you are exactly expecting from me. > Observing horizontally rendered tooltip in both the browsers. This is - indeed - the actual result (or wrong behavior) of both browsers in both tests. Gérard

Okay! I see the confusion now. > What went wrong? > The rendered tooltip should be displayed horizontally. I meant to edit: The rendered tooltip *_is_* displayed horizontally. Gérard

Able to reproduce this issue on Windows 10, Ubuntu 14.04 and Mac 10.12.3 with chrome #59.0.3048.0 and also in earlier version M48-48.0.2560.0, Since this is a non-regression issue marking it as untriaged. Attaching the screen-cast for reference Note: For below M48 versions, for the provided url's, the Chinese text is displayed in the horizontal line, from M48 it has started to display Chinese text in vertical line. Thank You...
