Kip: Screen Froze and Kernel/Browser crash(es) observed after unplugging the USB sticks

Issue description

Chrome Version: 58.0.3029.19
OS:9334.13.0 (Official Build) dev-channel kip
Firmware: Google_Kip.5216.227.78

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1)Sign into Device
(2)Plug in 2 USB sticks (with partitions and make sure all the partitions are mounted) 
(3)Reboot the device & Sign in
(4)Now Eject the USB partitions and unplug the sticks

What is the expected result?
No screen freeze or crash should be seen

What happens instead?
Screen frozen and Kernel and Browser crash seen 1/4 times

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.
1. Unable to come out of the frozen screen.  Tried to 'Power off the device' but didn't work.
2. So tried ESC+Refresh+Power keys and then Power OFF and Power ON to bring the system up.

1/4 times == happened once and could not reproduce in the next 3 attempts.
