launchInVR silently fails after hitting home button during DON flow

Navigate to https://webvr.info/samples/03-vr-presentation.html
Hit Enter VR
Before getting to controller pairing screen, hit Android Home button.
Reopen Chrome (presentation fails as expected)
Hit Enter VR
Presentation request immediately fails without launching DON flow.

I've narrowed this down to launchInVR not actually starting the DON flow, but I don't know if that's our fault or Daydream's. Will investigate and file Daydream bug if necessary.
