Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go to Chrome/Settings
2. Under 'Search' click to change default search engine.
3. Click on drop down to select engine.

Or
1. Go to any web page with image.
2. Right click on image and choose "Download image..."
File dialog comes up after long delay or never.

What is the expected behavior?
Opening menu, select item.

What went wrong?
All tabs become unresponsive.

Hang and crash 10 minutes later when it exhausts process memory.

This doesn't happen every time.  I started noticing the problem ... 6 months ago?
