What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to a PWA. e.g https://react-hn.appspot.com
2. Navigate to Application > Cache Storage > and select an entry.
3. Attempting to view the content for a "request" is not currently possible. You cannot "View source" or "View in Network panel". Instead you have to go to the Network panel and manually filter until you locate the file. Polishing this to improve the number of steps needed would be appreciated.
What is the expected result?
It is not possible to inspect the content of a file cached in Cache Storage directly from the Application panel.
What happens instead of that?
You have to manually do this from the Network waterfall.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
The current Cache Storage panel serves as a basic key-value style viewer for items stored in Cache Storage. While this provides great value, it is not trivial to then view the file contents of a cached resource. This is particularly useful when inspecting what is in the SW Cache on a production site that you are tracing or don’t have full dev access to.
Right clicking on an entry displays an almost generic drop-down menu.
We could change this to behave more consistently with entries in the Network waterfall - their drop-down allows a resource to be opened in the Sources Panel. This could be added to the Cache Storage menu too, avoiding the current workflow of Discover entry in Cache Storage -> remember filename -> navigate back to Network waterfall.
The impact would be simplifying the file content inspection workflow.
