File sorting differences between ChromeOS and Android |
||||
Issue descriptionChrome OS version 58.0.3029.6 dev What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Create two identical directories and view on ChromeOS and Android files app 2. Sorting order differs between the two What is the expected result? Sorting order is the same. I'm not sure which one is correct, though it seems to me that the Android order is more what I would expect. I've attached screenshots of both. It's hard to see from the screenshots but the files in both folders are the same.

I checked file browsers on Mac OS and Ubuntu. On both platform, file1.txt comes before file02.txt (i.e. numeric collation is used, like "1" < "2" < "10"), so I think Chrome OS's behavior is more consistent with other OSs.

Interesting! Thanks for the check. I also did a quick check on the Drive web app for another point of reference, and I think it behaves similarly to Android. @mcirimele - Are those files your Drive to sort and compare?

Okay, when I view the same batch of files in Drive (web version) they sort like Android does. Screenshot attached. Other data points: When I view the files on Drive from ChromeOS files app it sorts like ChromeOS local.
