Many Google Docs documents cause an "Unable to load file" error from gdocs after M58 on CrOS when using Google Docs Offline extension

Reported by hanley...@gmail.com, Mar 10 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 9334.2.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/58.0.3029.6 Safari/537.36
Platform: 9334.2.0 (Official Build) dev-channel samus

Example URL: N/A, simply have the Google Docs Offline extension installed.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open a Google Doc
2. Content loads in background, eventually an error message is displayed saying "Unable to load file. Try to load it again or send an error report."
3. At the top of the page, a small yellow error reads. "Something went wrong. Please reload."

What is the expected behavior?
The Google Doc page loads

What went wrong?
The loads but Google Docs displays an error. It seems possible that this is related to the Google Docs Offline extension (ghbmnnjooekpmoecnnnilnnbdlolhkhi) as there are numerous console errors referencing this extension and fonts that appear at the time the error is displayed in the Google Docs UI. Opening the same doc in an incognito window w/o that extension does not reproduce the error.

Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A

Is it a problem with a plugin? Potentially the Google Docs Offline extension (ghbmnnjooekpmoecnnnilnnbdlolhkhi)

Did this work before? Yes 58.0.3027.0

Does this work in other browsers? N/A

Chrome version: 58.0.3029.6 Channel: dev
OS Version: 9334.2.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0

I have experienced a very similar problem with the same dev release but on the Samsung chromebox. I changed the settings on Google drive and unticked the offline synch which solved the access problem but it will not allow me to restore Google drive settings into a synch state.
Same problem. I also unticked the offline sync, which worked, but also, unable to restore into a sync state.
58.0.3027.118 seems to have removed the problem.
Not for me. Still can't synch and I am on that build.

Thinkpad 13 if it matters.

Daniel, does this look like the same root cause as issue 696055 ?

This looks like issue 700603 , which was fixed in a new roll to 58
Hi. I still cannot synch and on Version 58.0.3029.31 (Official Build) dev (64-bit). Just keeps saying it's "enabling offline mode," but never completes.
