I no longer work on WebRTC, but I do know that current folks regularly triage new issues in the component.

The disabled selector doesn't actually allow switching the camera for existing streams. It merely changes the default camera in user preferences. This can still be done in Content settings. Since this selector doesn't switch the camera for any existing streams, it is actually misleading and will probably disappear in the future. The reason it is disabled is because of a new algorithm for selecting which camera to use, which is more spec compliant. This algorithm selects a single camera and that causes the selector to be disabled. We haven't updated the algorithm for audio and that is why the selector is still enabled for audio in most cases. We are not going to fix this by enabling the selector again. Initially the selector for microphone will be disabled too, and eventually it will disappear. Thus, closing as WontFix. |
