Keyboard pushes the bottom toolbar up |
||||||
Issue description1. Enable the Chrome Home flag 2. Go to any page with an input field (e.g. google.com) 3. Focus the input field. Expected: The keyboard pops up and I can type, while having usable space above it Actual: The keyboard pops up and I can type, but it also pushes the omnibox up. That reduces the usable space. Without the Chrome Home flag, when the omnibox is hidden because I scrolled down, it does not come back just because I focused an input field. So I think that when not writing into the omnibox itself, it should not stay above the keyboard. Also, this causes some glitches every now and then when showing and hiding the keyboard,

The omnibox should come up whenever the keyboard comes up (even in stable Chrome) as a security feature to show the origin when you enter any text. So, the usable space should remain the same. Can you double check this isn't the case with normal Chrome?

Oh yes, you're right, my report is not accurate and the omnibox does come down when you type, even when the flag off. Anyway, I reported the bug because it feels confusing sometimes having that input box pop up between the keyboard and the input that I want to type in, and right in the middle of the screen. It was less an issue before because the omnibox was at the top and felt more like an "FYI" that you can ignore. It's very noticeable and mildly annoying now. But if that's the current behaviour and a feature, fair enough ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yep - we agree that it is somewhat strange. +cleer/hannahs are looking into alternate visual treatments to see what could be done.

Chrome Home is being turned down so I'm marking this as WontFix. |
