ARC++ Kiosk: Veyron-Fievel suddenly an "incompatible device" for many apps that used to work |
|||
Issue descriptionM57-Beta channel, build 9202.47.0, chrome 57.0.2987.89 Device: Veyron-Fievel Back on Feb. 17, 2017 there were several ARC++ apps which I could install and launch in Kiosk mode on my Fievel device, including the following from the PlayStore: org.wikipedia (Wikipedia) com.rovio.angrybirds (Angry Birds) com.imdb.mobile (IMdB) com.google.android.youtube (YouTube) com.irisvalet.hrltc.mv (Hyatt Regency Hotel in London) com.adobe.reader (Adobe Reader) On Feb. 22, 2017 with M-57 build 9202.36.0 the only one of those apps that could still install and launch on the Fievel was Wikipedia. The rest would spin forever on the splash screen "Initializing application...". A look at the android logs shows that the Fievel is considered an "incompatible device" for those apps. That condition has persisted on the Fievel for each weekday build since then. On another device (Veyron-Tiger) with the same M-57 builds, all of the above apps are able to install and launch with no problem. What might have happened to make the Fievel "incompatible" for so many apps between Feb. 17 and Feb. 22? I have attached the android logs for those apps on the Fievel.

Mike, could you try with M57 9202.28.1 or 9202.30.0 again on fievel. These are older (before Feb 17th builds) and it will be good to know if these apps work on the older builds as they use to or not.

I went back to M-57 9202.27.0 (Feb. 13) and my common ARC++ apps installed and launched fine. I'll work my way forward in the builds to see when the incompatible device error surfaces.

9202.30.0 works. Moving on to 9202.33.0.

This is because of a missing "faketouch" feature for the device, and adding it back is tracked internally at b/35953657

Elijah, was 'faketouch' removed recently? I am trying to understand why these apps were working till couple weeks back but not anymore? |
