Alerts flakily persist between tree switches |

Issue descriptionFeedback from notes from wkorman@ 'I got into a state at one point where "Failure alerts" for the Android tab were still showing even after I had moved to the Chromium tab. Somehow the content wasn't cleared out. I could not reproduce this however.' It's a bit of jank that I think I've seen before. My initial guess is that is happens because an autorefresh for the tree the sheriff is switching one can start but does not finish before the sheriff switches trees. Or something of that ilk. But I would like to investigate further!
