Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.87 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open new tab (usually/always via ctrl+t) What is the expected behavior? I should be able to type my query/address immediately after opening a new tab without having to manually click in the omnibox. What went wrong? Sometimes the omnibox won't automatically be selected when I open a new tab, forcing me to manually click it to begin typing. Closing the tab then reopening a new one (ctrl+w ctrl+t) usually results in the same problem for 3-4 iterations before the tab opens normally. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 56.0.2924.87 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: I have always had this issue on my current computer (Surface Pro 3 i5 256GB), although I don't think I've encountered it on my desktop PC. It occurs both when using the type cover keyboard and when using a wireless keyboard.

Hey reporter, that lack of focus I imagine is might annoying. Does it still happen on the computer in question? I've never seen it myself.

Hi reideprichard@, Are you still encountering this intermittent issue? We'd like to fix it, but will only bother trying if it's something that's still happening. thanks, mark

Ah, sorry for neglecting to reply here! I stopped using my Surface Pro 3 over the summer, and this semester I upgraded to a Surface Pro 4. Since upgrading I haven't noticed the problem. If it recurs, I'll be sure to update this issue.
