FR - Prevent device from sleeping policy

Project Member Reported by dajohnson@google.com, Feb 27 2017

Issue description

This is a Feature Request.

Environment:

Chrome OS Laptop
Citrix
Healthcast
Cerner EMR

Use case and requirement:

To keep the device from sleeping when the screen is closed in order to keep application sessions open. In the Windows environment, there is a configuration that allows for this.

What is the impact to the user, and is there a workaround? If so, what is
it?

When the device sleeps, the session keep alives stop. When the laptop is opened, it requires the entire re-authentication process to bring the nurse/doctor/clinician back to the screen they were working on.

Please add the following feature to Chrome Enterprise Management:

On Lid Close keep awake ( i.e. keep power on and network connection live )

This will speed up workflow in healthcare during a Citrix session as the user can move around from room to room and open up instantly to where they left off.

Looks to be a duplicate of https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=752153

Agreed that the policy request seems to be the same thing that's tracked by issue 752153 -- thanks!

This can be configured by users via chrome://settings/power.
