Standardize or remove Window#find() API |
||||||||
Issue descriptionCan we standardize Window#find? Seems like WebKit, Gecko and Blink all have it. If it has been standardized, please add the link the the idl file.

Since this API changes the selection, I think that Blink>Editing is probably more appropriate. The implementation calls into Editor::findString. If standardized, https://w3c.github.io/selection-api/ might be a destination, but not necessarily. Use counter: https://www.chromestatus.com/metrics/feature/timeline/popularity/696 It's not implemented in Edge, so a good next step would be to discuss with all vendors if there's any interest in standardizing.

The implementation is also shared by document.execCommand("FindString", false, str), but that seems to only work in Blink and WebKit.
