Chrome doesn’t remember sign-in details (and passwords)

Reported by artpolik...@gmail.com, Feb 16 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.87 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Problem #1
1. Sign in to some site
2. Chrome ask to save password — chose YES
3. After that click on key icon and see that no passwords saved

# Problem 2
1. Sign in to Chrom itself
2. Quit the browser
3. Open it again — Sign-in details out of date
4. Repeat from 1

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
Problem #1: Chrome suggests to save passwords, but doesn’t save it actually.

Problem #2: Chrome drops my auth every time I restart it.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 56.0.2924.87 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.11.6
Flash Version:

May be it a Mac OS bug, or something with keychain I don’t know. I have no idea how to fix it, you have no fine error message or instructions to fix. After googling it looks like I am only one with such a problem :(

+vasilii, who is more familiar with Mac and keychain issues.

Symptoms look near identical to issue 689759 but we didn't find a root cause for that one.

This is a definitive problem with the Keychain.
- What are your settings? Is the Keychain locked automatically.
- Open the Keychain and find "Chrome Safe Storage" there. Open "access control". Do you see Chrome as the only app in the "Always allow access" list?
Keychain "login" was not blocked. In "Access control" was - "Allow all applications...".
I deleted Chrome Safe Storage, and then reinstalled Chrome. It helped.

It's a pity that we won't know why Chrome Safe Storage was unreadable. Reinstalling Chrome was not necessary.
