need a way to extract symbols suitable for minidump_stackwalk without relying on dsyms

Project Member Reported by jochen@chromium.org, Feb 15 2017

Issue description

because dsyms take like half an hour on top of a regular debug build.

Nico said it might be possible to somehow get the data from the .o files or something similar to how we use dump_syms on other platforms? something something hand-wavey

You should just be able to run dump_syms on an unstripped copy of Chromium Framework, without any dsyms.
Status: Available (was: Unconfirmed)
Can you elaborate on "need"? Is this a required feature? A desired feature? Tentatively marking as available, Pri-3.

Comment 3 by jochen@chromium.org, Feb 16 2017

It is required to symbolize crashes on layout tests.

I know nothing about any of this stuff, did you mean someone else? Anyhow, removing myself.
