Add symbolic icon for use in GNOME Shell top panel

Issue descriptionThese are used by GNOME Shell[1] and harmless to implement. This can be implemented by dropping chromium-symbolic.svg (978 bytes) into one of the following directories: /usr/share/icons/hicolor/symbolic/apps ~/.local/share/icons/hicolor/symbolic/apps Attached panel screenshot after dropping icon into last directory. Obviously, works :) I have signed CLA, but have no idea what my patch can include other than adding icon to chromium/chrome/app/theme/chromium for later use by installers. Icon(see attachment) is made on 16x16 pixel grid. Inner circle is 1px wide to reflect the logo, cuts are 0.55 px under angles 0,120,240 with proper centering. Fill color is bebebeff - same as other symbolic icons. Icon is made as single outline to ensure that it can be themed. Extra vertices manually removed. Reduced size with svgcleaner[2] (is lossless). If somebody can pick this up I would appreciate it. [1] https://developer.gnome.org/ThemedIcons/#Symbolic_Icons [2] https://github.com/RazrFalcon/SVGCleaner

OP thanks for signing the CLA, you'll have to modify the deb and rpm packages https://cs.chromium.org/chromium/src/chrome/installer/linux/ I think this would be a welcome change!

For those of us not familiar with Symbolic Icons, can you describe what makes it good to have? Does it allow Chrome/Chromium in certain desktop environments to fit in better with the theme? If there is no symbolic icon, does the user see a color icon in a otherwise grayscale world?

#3 This is what my top titlebar looks like, without the patch.

Sorry for year delay. I was too busy fooling around ;) I will need to familiarize myself again with the project. I filed this request, so in a way I am the one responsible for making it happen. |
