Text search (Ctrl+F) not updating with page content |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: All of them probably, I remember seeing this for years What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Go to google.com. (2) Ctrl+F and search for "stuff" on the page (there will be zero results, the gray text on the right will say "0 of 0") (3) Leaving the "Ctrl+F" popup open, click the google search box and type "stuff". (4) Note that the whole search results page is covered in the word "stuff". (5) Press Ctrl+G (next text search occurrence) and note that the text search popup still says "0 of 0" despite there being ample occurrences of "stuff" and that the yellow highlight doesn't appear on any of them. What is the expected result? Expected result is that step #5 above will result in iterating the newly loaded occurrences of the word "stuff". What happens instead? No results are found and to fix it you have to go to the text search field and edit it a few times and then return it to saying "stuff" to be able to search for "stuff".

1. Yes this is broken (bug is present in Linux 56.0.2924.87) 2. It used to be that the workaround was to delete the last letter of your search and type it back in, but this workaround has also stopped working. Also, even if you hit the x on the search dialog and Ctrl+F again, it still doesn't fix it.

Suggestion for fix: If the page dynamically changes while the FindInPage dialog is open, wait for a quarter of a second and then redo the search.

cc'ed people: any idea who a good owner for this would be? https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/adminComponents doesn't have an admine for this component.

*** UI Mass Triage*** Tested on latest Stable #70.0.3538.110 on Windows 10 and Debian Rodete and was not able to reproduce as the search box gets dismissed when the new page gets loaded. martinsimpson@ -- Please feel free to file a new issue or reopen this issue if the issue is reproduced on latest Chrome versions.
