Shelf shows too quickly when autohide is on

Project Member Reported by kuscher@chromium.org, Feb 13 2017

Issue description

Chrome Version : 56.0.2924.87
OS Version: 9000.82.0

We used to have logic where just hitting the edge when showing the shelf wasn't enough to trigger it showing. We had a short delay/mouse movement against or along edge to avoid accidental triggering.

This seems like it got removed? We should put this back. Adding a few people from way back when who may remember doing this,

tdanderson, could this have been changed as part of the MD redesign? Maybe the old code depended on having the 3-pixel border at the bottom?

It's possible mustash broke this, but I don't think we changed those timers.

I'm trying on the latest beta (57.0.2987.32) and am still seeing a delay in showing the shelf when the mouse cursor is moved to the bottom of the screen. Also if I move the cursor to the bottom of the screen the shelf stays hidden as long as I keep moving the cursor back and forth horizontally. This seems like it's working as intended, can you please clarify?

We did not change any timers as part of the MD rework.

Handing back to kuscher@ for more feedback re #2

+tbuckley@ FYI
Owner: tbuck...@chromium.org
here is a video of it showing no delay. This was reproduced by alcor externally and me just now on above version. So I am still seeing this issue, maybe something inconsistent? Maybe device dependent? This is on Caroline.

High DPI issue? Maybe it doesn't think the cursor is actually at the bottom of the screen?

I'm on 56.0.2924.87 (Official Build) beta (64-bit) pixel2 and looks normal.

kuscher@, just in case, can you disable arc++ and see if it makes any difference?

Min, do you know if this is still relevant?
There was a bit of extra work done about detection pointer position and showing the auto-hidden shelf. I'm guessing this issue might be outdated now. Can anyone who had the issue previously comment on whether this is still an issue for them with the new shelf redesign?

Closing. There hasn't been any real update about the concerns for nearly two years. All other updates seem to say that things look good.
