German TCs as well as English users have reported that there hasn't been any official communication on a new feature within Chrome 56.

Situation:

When expanding an image within Chrome 56 the image get's centered and has a black background. 

Steps to reproduce (new feature): 
Look for any image e.g. on Google Search (https://screenshot.googleplex.com/moh2smGsfYf)
Expand and click view image (https://screenshot.googleplex.com/TZygwrPVvx9)
