bug still blocks a new user to enroll my new chromebook after being reset to move from retail demo mode FRE

Reported by dollersi...@gmail.com, Feb 11 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 8872.76.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.105 Safari/537.36
Platform: 8872.76.0 (Official Build) stable-channel gnawty

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. not sure how to re enter retail mode
2. restarted device
3. reset device again

What is the expected behavior?
land on the enrollment set up upon start up and am not able to enroll as a non domain or admin user cannot use my account to enroll my device and now i am currently browsing here through a guest user account which is not acceptable as the owner of this book

What went wrong?
forced re enrollment bug or issue when former admin did not properly wipe this device.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 55.0.2883.105 Channel: n/a
OS Version: 8872.76.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0

seems to be an issue that will have to be addressed by someone who can access the admin or dev mode and since the original retailer is no longer accessible, i would appreciate any advice or assistance

Drew/Thiemo, do you maybe have some input on this issue?

I believe that if FRE is the case here, then there is no "official" workaround for this - the device has to be removed from the domain by the admin.
Or one could probably go into Dev mode and hack through all the checks, but that's a completely unsupported configuration.

No real solution here - you have to contact the person who sold it to you so they can deprovision it. Alternatively, you can turn off your device for one full year, at which point the forced enrollment will expire.

Sorry that we can't help you here, but this is a theft-deterrent feature and as such there's no way to work around it.
