Loading buildbot log page on Mac is janky and slow

Chrome Version: 58.0.3007.0
OS: macOS 10.12.3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Go to build.chromium.org
(2) Find a builder that's in the middle of compiling
(3) Load the compile step stdout
(4) Try and scroll it, going towards the bottom of the page
(5) The renderer locks up for seconds at a time, painting in the text slowly

What is the expected result?
Fast, responsive painting of stdout text. Safari can do this with much better performance.

What happens instead?
Jank

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.
I've attached a macOS sample and a trace file. The sample seems to implicate Harfbuzz text shaping.

Status: WontFix (was: Untriaged)
Chrome (and webkit) has always had problems with large text documents. Large plain text documents is pretty much the worse case for our inline layout implementation. Safari is faster as it has a couple of fast-paths (simple layout and simple text) but is still significantly slower than IE and Firefox.

This is a known issue and will be addressed by our new inline layout implementation.
