Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_3) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.87 Safari/537.36 Example URL: https://youtu.be/5JdHSmaRiP4 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Play h264 video 2. Observe flicker 3. What is the expected behavior? No flicker. What went wrong? This only happens some times (hard to reproduce or explain) If i refresh the same video maybe 10-20 times it will happen at some point. I then have to refresh the page (replay video) for everything to be OK again. vp9 videos work just fine from what I can tell. h264 (mp4) is the issue. Did this work before? Not able to reproduce the flicker in latest stable: 56.0.2924.87, Mac 10.11. Also tried another h264 video from - http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html, not seeing any flickering. As per the log message error : [3648:8427:0209/204400.798246:ERROR:vt_video_decode_accelerator_mac.cc(634)] adding few folks in thread who made changes to the code recently.

#3 ligim... Are you using h264 or vp9 when testing? The problem is not reproducible when using vp9. Also, I'm using 10.12.3 with the new macbook pro 2016 15" with 2 graphics cards, if that makes a difference. To test I'm using this: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/h264ify/aleakchihdccplidncghkekgioiakgal

I just tested with GF's MacBook Pro 2011 13". No issue here. So maybe the problem is with the new graphics in new 2016 MB Pro? I'm using one with Intel HD 530 and AMD Radeon Pro 450, issue when using both cards.

Sorry for spam. I just tested with http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html that does NOT seem to trigger it. Maybe it's youtube specific? Anyway, If you could try with h264ify and some 1440p video from youtube. That seems to be the problem.

While the VTVDA warning is shocking on YouTube, it can't cause flicker. ccameron@: any ideas?

Tested in chrome # 56.0.2924.87 and Canary 58.0.3020.0 on Mac 10.12.3 (Mac Book Air 2015 with Intel HD Graphic card) and not able to reproduce the issue. Please find the screen cast for your reference. @ joakimkoed: Could you please let me know if i have missed anything and if possible, please create a new profile without extensions and apps.Re-check once and let us know the observation of the issue which would help us to triage the issue further. Thanks in Advance.

@rbasuvula Looked at your video. The strange thing, is that it only happens some times (maybe every 20 or 30th play) How I reproduce it (with clean profile etc.) is playing like 5 secs. of the same video over and over (it's annoying, I know :() and once in a while, it will happen. Also I would again point out that this does not happen when using VP9 (only h264 mp4 from what I can tell and only on YouTube). Here is a video I took 2 mins ago in canary with only h264ify extension: https://goo.gl/photos/2ttc61pwzzEXNgdd9 What I would recommend you do: - use h264ify while testing (make sure video is not vp9) - Use a MKBHD YouTube video (I know these trigger it) - Refresh the page over and over (I did it 10 times to trigger it today) It is also quite possible that your Air is not affected. My GF's 2011 does not seem to have this problem (from what I could tell) Hope that made sense :) Feel free to ask for futher explanation. Thank you for taking the time!

Unable to reproduce the issue on Mac 10.12.3 using chrome version 56.0.2924.87.Able to play the video without any issues with and without the h264ify extension. Please find the attached screen cast for the same. Request you once please try the issue on new profile without any extensions and flags. Please update the thread if the issue still persists. Thanks,

@kavvaru I just watched your video. Once again, I see you only played the video once. Did you see the video I linked to? (if not, please watch https://goo.gl/photos/PDrwZVYbrGx9oss96 ) I had to play it like 10 times to trigger it.

This doesn't seem to be limited to h264 videos. Issue 702369 is on the same issue. |
