Audio output changes from BT to next available device if playback is muted for more than a minute

Reported by r...@onixnet.com, Feb 9 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 9000.82.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.87 Safari/537.36
Platform: 9000.82.0 (Official Build) stable-channel auron_yuna

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Connect Chromebook to Bluetooth speaker
2. Play music or anything with audio
3. Pause playback
4. Wait a minute and check the audio output; will be changed to the next available device
5. BT speaker is still connected

What is the expected behavior?
The audio output shouldn't change unless I actually unattach from the BT device.

What went wrong?
1. I am on an Acer Chromebook 15(CB5-571)
2. This problem began when I upgraded to Chrome 56 on Feb. 8, 2017

Did this work before? Yes What ever the number was prior to 56.0.2924.87

Is it a problem with Flash or HTML5? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 56.0.2924.87 Channel: stable
OS Version: 9000.82.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0

See attachment

It's not the end of the world but having to toggle the BT on the CB on and off everytime I pause music or a video is becoming a nuisance.

Thanks for your time!

I appear to be having a problem very similar to this:

My devices are seen by the OS and connect fine, but when I play a video or audio clip they disconnect when the clip is over and need to be reconnected.

I didn't have this problem before updating,
This is is very annoying and needs to be fixed.

- Updated to 56.0.2924.101 on Feb. 20, 2017
- Behavior has changed
- After more than a minute muting audio, the audio out switches
- Then after about two minutes, the BT will auto disconnect/reconnect
- This happens with 3 different BT speakers(Bose, HDMX Jam, and Amazon Basics BT Receiver)

Correction from my last comment:

- Updated to 56.0.2924.101 on Feb. 20, 2017
- Behavior has changed
- After more than a minute muting audio, the audio out switches
- Then after about two minutes, the BT will auto disconnect/reconnect
- This behavior only happened once
- Original issue is still present
- This happens with 3 different BT speakers(Bose, HDMX Jam, and Amazon Basics BT Receiver)

I am having the same issue with my BT ever since the last update. I even tried different bluetooth headsets - same cut off problem. It's not the headset, it's the update that did something. Very frustrated. If anyone has a fix, please let me know. Thanks.
