Reported by do...@blackcart.co, Feb 8 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_3) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.87 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Update Chrome manually from v55 to v56
2. Visit joinhoney.com (or grammarly.com, or any website with an inline extension installation button)
3. Try to install inline Chrome extension

What went wrong?
The installation modal does not show up. See attached gif. Console shows the following error message:

Uncaught Error: A Chrome Web Store installation is already pending.
at Installer.install (extensions::webstore:20)
at Object.install (extensions::webstore:82)
at installChromeExtensionm ((index):643)
at HTMLAnchorElement.onclick (VM1380 :1)

WebStore page:

Did this work before? Yes 55

Chrome version: 56.0.2924.87  Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.12.3
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0

Unable to reproduce the issue on Mac 10.12.3 with chrome version #56.0.2924.87

These are the steps followed

1. Installed chrome #55.0.2883.95 and navigated to joinhoney.com and observed the extension installation confirmation modal is displayed

2. Updated chrome to #56.0.2924.87 and navigated to joinhoney.com and observed the extension installation confirmation modal is displayed

Attaching the screen-cast for reference

donny@ could you please retry the same scenario with clean profile with no apps & extensions and let us know your observations.

donny@, can you please also paste the entire contents of chrome://version when you are observing the problem?

I think these errors result when the extension is already installed in a profile. Does uninstalling the extension work?

(and do we need better UI feedback for this?)
donny@, were you in fullscreen mode? This popped up in issue 690523 as well. If you update to 57 it should be fixed.

ackermanb@ yes, you're right. I was in fullscreen mode, and it is fixed now :)
