Issue 707145  has been merged into this issue.

The tooltip clipping during animation can be fixed by removing
  overflow: hidden
on
  :host(.expanded) #card
in settings_section.html. overflow: hidden should only be needed on to the card when the host (settings-section) is .expanding or .collapsing.

But that creates another undesirable effect: when sliding between sub-pages, text overflows an extra 2-3 pixels, showing it over the card's shadow. (See attachment.) I haven't investigated why this happens, but my hunch is it involves neon-animated-pages and position: absolute.

dbeam: I think I found a reasonable fix (comment #5), and I think the (minor) issue it introduces can be worked around, but we'd want to verify it doesn't introduce additional issues.

This'll involve some time, and we know updating overflow on anything is a big risk with Settings, so it's up to your team how to prioritize it. It'd be a nice-to-have if someone has the chance to take a look, but I can't commit the time to give it the attention I'd like. Could you triage this?

This issue has been Available for over a year. If it's no longer important or seems unlikely to be fixed, please consider closing it out. If it is important, please re-triage the issue.

This should no longer be the case. The tooltip is not cut off, and there are no side to side animations.
